Done!

Ok, that last post concludes my catch up posts. If the baby comes today, I will feel content that I mastered the last week before that happens. Let the piano fall. We are ready. ;)

So...what are we doing this week?

Waiting. Imagine our lives being lived on the sidewalk below this hoisted piano. We make all plans on the understanding that they might be suddenly squished at any moment by something as momentous as a grand piano falling 12 floors onto our little meetings, dinners, commitments, etc. It is actually kind of a fun game.

Jon - "Do you want to go to small group tonight?"
Amy - "Sure!" (Big grin, all the while thinking....I wonder if we'll actually go.)

Twinkle Twinkle Little Star

Last weekend Kim hosted a baby shower for us. It was a lot of fun with lots of dear friends and family, good food, helpful advice, and one remarkably disturbing game.

Giving each guest a picture of Jon and one of me, they had to combine our facial features to show us what they thought our baby was going to look like. The following examples are some of the safest ones to show you. The rest would produce nightmares. They named their little "monsters" by using letters from our names.

This one (above) is my personal favorite. ;)

Inedible Beauty - Diaper Cake for the centerpiece. Newborn diapers are so tiny. They just make me smile.

Story Books, Sticky Buns, and Slippery Bricks

We set out on a drizzly Saturday with 2 nieces and 2 nephews. Our goals were simple, find the fairy tale exhibit, enjoy the fairy tale exhibit. Find the giant cinnamon rolls, enjoy the giant cinnamon rolls. Return with 2 nieces and 2 nephews. We don't even pretend like we are practicing for being parents because it is more fun to be Aunt Manda and Uncle Jon with these kids.
This window shot was taken just after Corinne ran smack into the window because she didn't see the glass. It was hilarious.
We ended up going out to the fountains to throw in coins and try not to play in the water. It was wet and cold and slippery. We'll have to go back in the summer and really make the most of this part.

Crown Center (downtown) sponsored an interactive Fairy Tales exhibit. It had tidbits from almost every story imaginable. Pretty fun, though the doorways were definitely built for short people.

Pizza Night with the 6th graders (and stowaways)

Credit where it is due - all photos in this post were taken by girls 12 and under.
Mrs. V had a great idea. About 10 girls from our after school Good News Clubs should come hang out and make pizza with us on a Friday night.
It was a great time full of more energy than a room can safely handle, more girls than a game of sardines can fit under the basement stairs, and more pizza than our small army could finish off. Wish these girls weren't leaving our elementary school when they finish this year!

"Before I formed you in the womb I knew you,
before you were born I set you apart."
Jeremiah 1:5

I feel like I see God's blessing so huge, as He reminds me through people around us, that He knows our baby and loves it before it is even born. So many people have made or sent us gifts for the baby and I am overwhelmed at how many people love our unborn little one. It just hits me over and over that God has loved us since before we were formed. I definitely don't deserve that kind of love. Or the kind of love you all have shown!
